September 25, 2009: I was sitting in a classroom full of students’ sculptures, drawings and images of the human anatomy yesterday listening to my instructor give his lecture. He made a really interesting observation. None of the male sculptures had any penises. They had all been castrated and stripped of their manhood while the female sculptures had large protruding breasts and the life sized human skeleton that was hanging near the door had a vagina made of clay stuck to its forehead. This leads me to the following question: Why should men be ashamed of their sexuality while women are portrayed as sex objects?

August 24, 2009: I'd like to thank Mike Brown of Tribe, who also organizes our monthly film discussion group, Art on Life, for including me in his insightful article, Evaluating Mediums, for his monthly column on the NoHo Arts District's website. If you live in NoHo and are involved or interested in the arts and culture, Mike's column is educational, insightful and his topics are well chosen. It’s definitely worth checking out.
August 24, 2009: I've decided to explore sculpting in addition to the figure and gesture drawing classes this Fall. It's been something I've been wanting to do and I'm finally doing it.
August 15, 2009 Update: Well, I didn't make it to the 2009 IPA/Lucie Award finals. A little disappointed but happy and surprised that I made it as far as I did. On another note, I'm taking my first instructed figure drawing class today. I'm pretty excited about that. Can't wait for the Fall semester to start. Also picking up the camera again...haven't shot much this year.
